TomTom GPS after one year of using this gadget!
one) The battery is holding much less charge than last year, however it nonetheless lasts 6-8 hrs with out needing a charge. Not an issue for me, because I use the car adapter most of the time.
2) I drove to Canada, and the maps were correct! In fact, I liked that TomTom nonetheless told me the pace limits in the streets. (Indicator said 100kph pace limit, TomTom confirmed sixty mph limit.) I discovered this useful so I didn’t need to squint in the tiny “kph” on my car’s speedometer. I have produced this trip prior to in the past (with out my TomTom), and I selected to “Avoid Tolls” on this trip. TomTom discovered a really nice route that I had not known about. It utilized IQ Routes to obtain me around the rush-hour traffic too! I utilized the “Itinerary” function for the very first time, and discovered it worked quite well. I programmed 6-7 locations the night prior to my trip. The next day, I simply opened the Itinerary and it asked me if I needed to journey towards the 1st one. I also ended up re-ordering a destination to later in the trip, and discovered an option to re-order. Very useful!
three) I updated my map just once (right prior to my trip to Canada). I installed this on a new pc. I was anxious that TomTom would not ‘know’ that I was eligible for free maps on my new pc. But, I had no problem in any way! For those of you who do not know, all your map updates, downloadable color schemes, icons (etc) are done via the TomTom Home software. You create an account with TomTom, and the TomTom Home software makes use of that account to ‘know’ you are eligible for Lifetime Map updates.
four) I did uncover one piece that doesn’t work for me. I can’t use the “Safety Cameras” add-in from TomTom Home. I have not researched it though. I got an error communication when trying to include it. No large offer for me, because I only prepared to include it for curiosity. A fast Google search didn’t reveal it as being a prevalent problem. I’ll update this evaluation if I discover a cause/solution.
5) Yes, the GPS nonetheless “pops off” the mount too easily. It bugs me every so often, but nonetheless not sufficient to buy a different mount/base.
6) Am I in the market for a new GPS? Nope! Still extremely happy with this one. (I got ill of every other GPS within 6 months of using it. But, knowing I nonetheless love this TomTom after one year states a lot!)
Good job TomTom, you exceeded my high anticipations. Thanks!
